This is a beautiful orchid which can be found rarely in semi-dry lime meadows without any fertilizers. It likes warmth.
I have found this attractive plant only once on a sunny slope under fruit-trees, together with Orchis militaris and Orchis purpurea.
The pyramidal panicle of pink blossoms differs not too much from the cylindric panicle of the Orchis species. For this reason it has been classified as an Orchis for many years. Like Orchis, Anacamptis has round bulbs.
Garden culture of this plant is not easy, but possible in a limestone garden with enough moisture in the growing period.
