What YOU can do:
- Please help to make gene technology more known. Include links to this page in your web sites and feel free to print out these pages and give them to anyone you like.
- Aquire more literature about this subject. Try to hear all sides, not only the PR departments of the transnational companies. Call the critical organisations (see below) for literature.
- Demand a mandatory labelling from the governments and more influence in the process of releasing mutated organisms and higher safety standards in low-risk gene labs.
- Via the GATT contracts and the Codex Alimentarius commission, Gene Technology may be broadcasted from the USA to all other countries, so try to reduce the influence of these contracts and institutions.
- Support farmers in your neighbourhood (if there are any) with direct purchases from them. Try to support farmers which try to produce in a healthy, natural way.
- Keep your eyes and ears open to spot releases in your vicinity and intervene immediately!
- Please support the critical organisations. The best support can be given with your wallets: While the transnational companies have almost infinite funds for advertisement campaigns, the critics are dependant of your donations.
You may contact in Germany: Gen-ethisches Netzwerk e.V.(http://www.gen-ethisches-netzwerk.de)
In the United States, you may contact: Pure Food Campaign (http://www.purefood.org)
- Stay critical! The Genetech-lobbyists nourish immanent fears about jobs and worldwide competition. (I guess the last thing that the transnational companies WANT is competion). Don't let them confuse you, there will always be a market for non-genetech products, if the people are willed to pay money for them.
"As I said, just a little pressure at the right place!"
