Serapias spec.
These orchids have very unusual blossoms with a long tongue-like lip. They have round bulbs like the Ophrys species and have the same habitats. They can be cultivated in a lime/sand mix and are suited for container culture. Usually, they are not hardy enough for outdoors, except in very mild climates. Common species are S. vomeracea, S. lingua, S. cordigera and S. neglecta.
Traunsteinera globosa
The pink globular orchid of the mountain meadows can be kept in culture in a sunny bed with a sand/lime mix. A similar yellow species,
T. sphaerica from the middle east is also known. From far away, the globular orchids look not too impressive, more like big leek plants.
