The most beautiful of the three german Cephalanthera species loves warmth, lime and dry forests.
The blossoms are purple-red and widely opened.
The rhizoms have a very strong mycorrhiza with soil fungi albeit weaker than C. damasonium.
This makes garden culture of C. rubra an uncertain experiment. The only way is to try to grow some from seeds as described under C. longifolia, but don't expect quick results.
